Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 often referred to professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first single, Pho on October 21 2016, was released on Dreamville Records. She began to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. Ari Lennox continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs to the Dreamville Team in the following year as he wanted Rihanna to collaborate alongside her on some of the songs. The announcement that she would be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. and Bas on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. Then on the 9th of November 2018 the singer released two more singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). The 13th of November, she dropped two singles titled The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this track as a single to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was launched with a music video posted on YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over 3 million times in the first seven days. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
